Class Description
Have you learned all the sewing basics but are not interested in making your own clothes? Why not try to making clothes for your kids? Kids clothes are quick to make and don’t use as much fabrics. Besides, they are very cute and you can win the hearts of your new little customers with ease.
You will learn how to read a pattern, cut out and sew your chosen garment, finish to a professional standard and add some personal touches to it. Our patterns are suitable for ages 6months to 3 years old, 3 to 8 years old & 9 to 14 years old.
Areas we also cover include:
- - Discussing sizing
- - Cutting fabric from our in-house pattern
- - Sewing straight lines, curves and corners
- - Finishing seams
- - Reverse stitching
- - Machine hemming
- - Use of our overlockers
- - Buttonholes
- - Adding sleeves
Is this course right for me?
You should know how to thread and confidently use a sewing machine. Ideally you will have completed our "Make a stylish skirt" class or our "Sew Complete" or ‘Sew Capable" sewing course.
What do I need to bring?
If you plan to use a fabric of your own choice you will need to bring along the following:
- Dress fabric
- 6m to 3y - 1m of 115cm or 140cm wide fabric
- 3y to 8y - 1.5m of 115cm or 140cm wide fabric
- 8y to 14y - 2m of 115cm or 140cm wide fabric
- Also bring:
- - 3 x matching buttons
- - matching cotton thread
- - ribbon (optional)
Alternatively, you can buy the fabric from us on arrival. All our fabrics are £4 per ½ metre. You can trace the pattern size required and will take it home after the lesson to make more at home.
Just to sew things up...
All sewing machines, and equipment are provided. Refreshments and biscuits are included and a glass of wine for all evening classes to help create a seamless atmosphere.
