Course Description
This 9 hour jacket making course is designed for those who are ready to move to truly tailored garments and always wanted to learn how to create a fully lined garments.
Course Schedule
This sewing course is usually made up of 3 x 3 hour sessions run over 3 consecutive weeks, but we also schedule occasional crash courses. You can check our schedule by clicking the book button.
What will I learn?
During this course you will learn to adjust your pattern to fit your body measurements. You will learn to choose the right fabric and pattern size. Sew princess seams, attach sleeves, work with facings and lining. By the last session you will walk away with a new, fabulous, ready to wear Chanel Jacket.
Is this course right for me?
This class is not suitable for beginners or people who are not very confident to work with patterns and still struggling with many sewing techniques. You will need to have a good knowledge of sewing machines and have made other garments before. Ideally you would have completed one of our Intermediate plus courses like Sew advanced or Stretch your skills.
What do I need to bring?
If you want to use your own fabric for this sewing course you will need to bring along the following:
- Coat fabric - size 8-18
- - Either 2.2m (220cm) of 115cm wide suitable fabric
- - Or 1.7m (170cm) of 140cm wide suitable fabric
- Suitable fabrics are lightweight wool, cashmere, poplin, boucle, denim, brocade, jacquards, linen
- - Lining 1.3m (130cm) of 115cm wide cotton or satin base contrast material
- - Interfacing 50cm
- - Shoulder pads (optional)

Just to sew things up...
All machines and equipment are provided, although if you would like to bring your own sewing machine to learn on, you are welcome to do so. You can buy all materials needed for this course for £20 (available when booking the course). Refreshments and biscuits are included and a glass of wine for all evening classes to help create a seamless atmosphere..
